Solar Plexus LLC started in downtown Missoula as a retail sales and installation of renewable energy equipment business in 1994. We tried a lot of things that have since been long forgotten. Because of the expectations inspired by Real Goods, there were many unusual items in our store like butter churns, wooden clothes racks, water filters, green cleaning products. home made soaps, scrub boards, food dehydrators, heirloom seeds, map stationery and envelopes, bamboo of all sizes, scientific toys and many other wonderful things.
What we learned was that we needed to narrow our focus to what we are really about which is renewable energy. This alone is a difficult subject to teach and learn on a daily basis, let alone all that other stuff.
We have a new location with parking and a back door. We like it here enough that we decided to buy the building. It's quieter, has great access, gives us some equity out of our monthly rent and has cut down on the drop-in traffic by quite a bit.
Started by Lee and Mary later joined by Rip in 2000, we have outfitted over 50 homes with hydro systems and over 200 homes with solar. there have been a few windturbines in there too usually augmenting the solar. Of Five NABCEP certified guys in Montana, we have two of them here at Solar Plexus.
We specialize in Hydroelectric up to a megawatt and solar grid-tie and off-grid. We have installed systems in eight states.

This house is off-grid in California. We have installed solar and hydro to run the electrical loads for this getaway.
